Workers Cottage
In 1880 day labourer Jacob de Vries and his wife Janna Bijma bought a plot of land alongside the Hoornsevaart canal. Here they built this workers cottage, which remained inhabited until 1959. The Ommelander Museum had it restored, and in 1993 it was opened to the public. Today the cottage’s interior showcases what the life of an agricultural labourer and his wife looked like around 1900.
