Carriage House
Ticket sales, museum shop, exhibitions and offices
The former Carriage House next to the Borg houses the exhibition space, museum shop and offices. This is also where you purchase your tickets. Every Borg used to have a number of outbuildings, such as stables and a carriage house. The latter did not only house the carriages, but also the coachman and his family. Verhildersum’s carriage house was inhabited by caretakers for a long time. These caretakers looked after the Borg when the family stayed in town during Winter. Even after Verhildersum was sold to the municipality in 1953 the carriage house remained inhabited. At the end of the 20st century it was converted into an exhibition space and offices.
