Experience Groningen with the music of Ede Staal in your ears, as you find yourself in the landscape he sings about or fly over it in a bird’s-eye view. It’s a truly special experience. See the sky above “Oethoezen”*, the road to “Klooster,” and the little tower of “Spiek.” The Ede Staal Experience Center is a permanent part of the story of Verhildersum. Something changes every year. In 2024, two new songs were added to the VR game! And in 2025, Ede Staal’s life story was incorporated, based on all the houses where he lived with his family. The exhibition was designed by his son, Jasper Staal. Come and enjoy!

Game element for young and old

In the virtual reality game, you walk through the Groningen landscape to collect the couplets of a song. Look around and find the lyrics. If the song is complete, the reward immediately follows: you listen to the whole song and fly over the landscape Ede Staal sings about. In short, this is no ordinary exhibition but a special Virtual reality experience.

Ede's Taal, the game that teaches you Gronings

And those who want to understand the texts better can do the Groninger language game: it doesn't matter whether you speak Dutch, English or German. The language game is part of the interactive picture wall and is based on the song lyrics of Ede Staal, hence Ede's Taal.
