Experience Verhildersum everywhere!

Verhildersum To Go! has a lot to teach you, both at the estate and at home. Learn about the origins of the landscape along the Groningen Wadden coast. From the first stone houses to the noble life, the farmers and the agricultural workers on the estate. Discover historical cow breeds and our sculpture garden that artist Eddy Roos has been working on for 40 years. Verhildersum To Go! is a web app and therefore does not take up any memory on your phone.

Open Verhildersum To Go!

Country life, castle life and farm life

Verhildersum To Go! is an experience route that connects the 3 themes on the 30-hectare estate: country life, castle life and farm life. Changing exhibitions can be seen in the Carriage House, the Estate, the Workers Cottage and the Farm that delve deeper into the story in the app. The app and the exhibitions provide an optimal experience! Also for children, because there is an assignment for them to complete at each information point along the way.

Welkom to the estate

In addition to the digital tour of the site, there is also a tour of the estate. There is a sign with a QR code in every room. Scan the code, and you can read all the explanations or have them read out loud via the podcast. Beautiful photos and videos have also been added here.

Walk in the footsteps of Edzard Van Starkenborgh

A 9 km walk from Verhildersum to the former stronghold site of the Starkenborgh. This estate, located in Wehe den Hoorn, was also owned by the Van Starkenborgh family and was their main residence for a long time.

Information signs with QR code on the estate

You will find small information boards on the estate with a QR code on them. Scan the code, and you will receive the story of Verhildersum that corresponds to your current location. There are 9 fixed topics, each containing a children's assignment. There are also additional information points: the signs with the 'I' for information.

Spoken text for the visually impaired

Do you have difficulty seeing, or do you simply prefer to listen? Each topic can also be listened to via this app, there is a podcast in each topic.
